Feeding Your Craft Addiction On-line

You know you are a Craft Addict if:

  • You have four or five projects going and are looking for a new one
  • Your favorite part of the Sunday paper is the Michael's ad
  • You are on the mailing list for both Hancock's Fabric and Jo-Ann's
  • You have a closet full of fabric but not the right one for this new project
  • You know who Carol Duvall is

Well, we have good news for you. The computer and especially the Internet will provide new vistas for your addiction. By the end of this workshop you will have accomplished the following:

  • You will locate a free pattern
  • Learn the latest new crafts
  • Locate the right tools for your particular interest

In addition, by the end of this session you will have learned the following about computers:

  • What a search engine is
  • How to find any topic that interests you
  • How to locate a particular item for your particular craft

Let's cover a few of the basics:

  • There is a difference between searching and surfing the Internet. Surfing is going over the surface much like riding the waves. Searching is targeted, looking for a particular item or items.
  • Not everything you will want to find is on-line. You may still have to go to the store.
  • While you will locate many free projects, not everything is free. Much of the Internet is one big store that accepts credit cards or checks to get that special gadget that you have been trying to find for months.
  • Looking for a particular item takes time and patience. Searching on-line is fun, but it does take time. When you are ready to search by yourself, set aside an hour or two so that you can fully enjoy the adventure.
