TAKE
ME TO YOUR LEADER
INTRODUCTION
Finding out how to talk
with your elected officials or even who they are can be frustrating.
The endless recorded message when you call City Hall won't give
you answers about that abandoned car parked in front of your house.
There must be a better, easier way to let politicians know what
you need.
Not only is there a better
way, but also a faster way that is more likely to get to the correct
person: Log-on to the Internet.
You can take
an active role in how your city is run by letting your elected leaders
know how you feel. And you don't have to spend hours on the phone
or sit in a stuffy office waiting for someone to answer your questions.
As technology becomes more available and understood by everyone
it will be easier to voice opinion and make changes locally and
nationally.
Let's Cover a Few of
the Basics
- There is a difference between searching and surfing the Internet.
Surfing is going over the surface much like riding the waves.
Searching is targeted, looking for a particular subject or subjects.
- Not everything you will want to find is on-line.
- Looking for particular information can take time. When you are
ready to search by yourself, set aside an hour so that you can
fully enjoy the adventure.
Below are sample links
to show you the value of using the Internet to access your leaders
and government. Learning about the many ways to find information
important to you can be a truly rewarding experience.
