Extreme
Sports
Do
you ever get an urge to?
- Jump of a cliff with a parachute?
- Lie on a long skateboard and fly down hill at 80 miles per hour?
- Be strapped into a kite and fly?
- Ski down extremely steep mountainsides?
Well, we have good news
for you. The computer, and especially the Internet, will provide
you crazies out there who insist on having a lot of fun, with all
the information you need to try some of these sports. During
this workshop you will:
- Check out a number of extreme sports
- Locate clubs and people who are involved in a variety of extreme
sports
- Meet people on the internet who are experts in these sports
In addition, by the end
of this session you will have learned something about computers,
like:
- How to navigate around web sites
- How to use a computer to locate information not only on a particular
extreme sport but to find information on just about anything.
Let's cover
a few of the basics:
- There is a difference between searching and surfing the Internet.
Surfing is going over the surface much like riding the waves.
Searching is targeted, looking for a particular item or
items.
- Not everything you will want to find is on-line.
- Much of the Internet is one big store, but there are many enthusiasts
out there who have web sites just for your information.
- Looking for a particular item takes time and patience. While
searching on-line is fun, it does take time. When you are
ready to search by yourself, set aside an hour or two so that
you can fully enjoy the adventure
